Lichfield's Christmas Fayre is Sunday 15 November, 10am to 4pm, after a Cathedral market on 7 November. The four-day Victorian market has no 2026 date.
Lichfield’s Christmas market day in 2026 is the Christmas Fayre on Sunday 15 November, 10am to 4pm, across the Guildhall, The Hub at St Mary’s, Market Square and the streets round it. A smaller Artisan Market at the Cathedral comes first, on Saturday 7 November. The four-day Victorian Christmas Market has not been announced for 2026, and nobody has said it is cancelled either.

The Christmas Fayre, Sunday 15 November
Lichfield Chamber of Trade and Commerce runs the Fayre, and its page gives the date as 15 November 2026, 10am to 4pm. It is a single day, not a run of weekends, and it is free to walk round.
The stalls are spread over four kinds of pitch:
- The Guildhall, Bore Street, upstairs and downstairs, indoors
- The Hub at St Mary’s, upstairs, indoors
- Outdoor Zone 1: Market Square, Market Street, Conduit Street and Dam Street
- Outdoor Zone 2: Bore Street
The two outdoor zones are new for 2026. The Chamber describes gifts, food and local brews, with choirs, bands, Morris dancers and performers dressed as elves through the day. It is run by volunteers, and the pitch fees pay for security and permits. The Chamber posts updates before the day at @LichfieldChristmasFayre.
What is not published yet: a stall list, a stage timetable and any road closure. Bore Street, Conduit Street and Dam Street all carry pitches, so expect them shut to traffic on the day. No closure order had been published when we checked on 6 October; when one is, it will go on our roadworks and travel page.
The Cathedral Artisan Market, Saturday 7 November
The Cathedral’s listing gives Saturday 7 November, 10am to 3pm: stands from local craftspeople and food and drink producers, entry by donation, and dogs welcome if they stay on a short lead. It has room for 29 stalls. Applications closed in the summer and makers were told by 14 August, so the line-up is settled even though it has not been published.
The Producers’ Market, 1 November and 6 December
The monthly Producers’ Market fills Market Square on the first Sunday of the month, 10am to 4pm. The city council’s market calendar lists Sunday 1 November and Sunday 6 December. The December one is the nearest thing Lichfield has to a pre-Christmas food market this year. The ordinary charter market trades every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday as usual.
Burntwood Christmas Festival, Saturday 28 November
Burntwood Town Council’s Christmas events page lists a Christmas Festival at Sankey’s Corner, Saturday 28 November, 4pm to 7pm, organised by the town council. It is a switch-on evening rather than a trading market, and no stall or entertainment list is out yet. The same page has the Boney Hay (23 November) and Chasetown (26 November) evenings.
Is the Lichfield Victorian Christmas Market on in 2026?
Not as far as anyone has said. It ran on 4 to 7 December 2025, organised by LSD Promotions, but on 6 October 2026:
- LSD Promotions’ Christmas 2026 page lists markets at Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford, Cardiff, Stourbridge, Sutton Coldfield and Wolverhampton. Lichfield is not on it.
- The market’s own site, lichfieldvictorianchristmasmarket.co.uk, still shows only “Thank you for attending!”, with no new dates.
- Lichfield District Council’s 2026 events calendar (printed January 2026) lists the Fayre and the switch-on but not the Victorian market, and Lichfield City Council’s events calendar for November and December lists the switch-on, Remembrance Sunday and the Mayor’s carols, but no market.
That is not a cancellation, and a late announcement is possible. Until there is one, plan around 15 November.
A warning about Visit Lichfield’s Christmas page. When we last read it, on 17 September, it was still last year’s: it listed the Victorian Market on “4th to 7th December 2025” and the 2025 switch-on date. Use the organisers’ pages above instead.
The nearest multi-day Christmas market
If you want several days of stalls, the closest one confirmed for 2026 is Sutton Coldfield Christmas Market, Friday 11 to Sunday 13 December, on The Parade. LSD Promotions’ page gives trading hours of 10am to 7pm on Friday and Saturday and 10am to 5pm on Sunday. Cross-City trains run from Lichfield City to Sutton Coldfield, though check our Christmas trains page for engineering work nearer the time.
Parking for the Fayre
The Fayre and both Producers’ Markets fall on a Sunday, and Sunday is where people get Lichfield parking wrong. The city council car parks are not free on a Sunday: every city car park charges £2.10 all day, and only the three Beacon Park car parks are free. The full list of car parks and tariffs is on our parking in Lichfield page. No Christmas parking offer for 2026 has been published by the district council yet.
