The Chamber's fayre page no longer gives Sunday 15 November and now says the fayre will return in 2027. No reason is given. Here is what still runs this Christmas.
Lichfield’s Christmas Fayre looks set not to run on Sunday 15 November. The Chamber of Trade and Commerce organises the fayre, and its page now says it “will return in 2027”, with the date “to be confirmed”. The heading at the top of the page reads “We return in 2027” (Lichfield Chamber of Trade and Commerce, Christmas Fayre).
That is a change. In June the same page said the fayre “will take place on the 15th November 2026”, from 10am to 4pm (the page as archived on 11 June 2026). It still said so when we checked on 26 October. The page was last edited on the afternoon of 27 October, according to the site’s own publishing record.
The Chamber has not said why. Its news page carries no announcement, and nothing has been published by the district council. We have asked the Chamber whether the 15 November fayre has been called off, why, and what happens to traders who booked pitches. We will update this story when it replies.
One part of the page has not changed. The section for traders still describes “our 2026 Christmas Fayre on Sunday 15th November” and lists the stall release dates from February to June. Every pitch fee on it still reads “TBC”.
What the fayre usually is
The fayre is the city’s biggest Christmas market day. The Chamber describes stalls of gifts, food and local brews across the city centre, with choirs, bands, Morris dancers and performers dressed as elves. It is run entirely by volunteers, and the pitch fees pay for security and permits.
For 2026 the Chamber had planned four areas:
- the Guildhall on Bore Street, upstairs and downstairs
- The Hub at St Mary’s, upstairs
- an outdoor Zone 1 on Market Square, Market Street, Conduit Street and Dam Street
- an outdoor Zone 2 on Bore Street
No road closure order for the fayre had appeared in Staffordshire County Council’s traffic notices by 2 November. A street event on that scale would normally need one.
What still runs this Christmas
The other dates in the city calendar are unaffected, as far as their own organisers’ pages show:
| Date | Event | Where | Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sat 7 Nov | Artisan Market | Lichfield Cathedral | 10am to 3pm |
| Sun 22 Nov | Christmas lights switch-on | Market Square | from 5pm |
| Sat 28 Nov | Burntwood Christmas Festival | Sankey’s Corner, Burntwood | 4pm to 7pm |
| Sun 6 Dec | The Producers’ Market | Market Square | 10am to 4pm |
The Cathedral’s listing, checked on 2 November, gives the Artisan Market as stands from local craftspeople and producers, with food and drink and handmade gifts. Entry is by donation and dogs are welcome (Lichfield Cathedral, Artisan Market). The other three dates come from their organisers’ pages and are set out in full on our Christmas markets page and our Christmas lights switch-on page.
The four-day Victorian Christmas Market, run by LSD Promotions, has still not been announced for 2026. Its own site said only “Thank you for attending!” on 2 November (Lichfield Victorian Christmas Market).
What it means for you
- If you were planning a trip on 15 November, do not count on the fayre. Check the Chamber’s page or its @LichfieldChristmasFayre account before you travel.
- If you booked a pitch, contact the Chamber directly through its contact page about your booking.
- For a Christmas market day in the city, the Cathedral’s Artisan Market on Saturday 7 November is now the first, and the Producers’ Market on Sunday 6 December the last before Christmas.
- Parking: city council car parks are not free on a Sunday. Most charge £2.10 all day, and only the three Beacon Park car parks are free. Our parking in Lichfield page has the detail.
