The company behind the Fradley Arms went into liquidation on 30 October. Its directors say the pub will carry on under a new company, A38 Pub Ltd.

The company that runs the Fradley Arms on Rykneld Street went into liquidation on Friday 30 October. Its directors have told creditors they intend to keep the pub going through a new company, A38 Pub Ltd, still trading as the Fradley Arms.

The notice appeared in The London Gazette on the same day. It says The Fradley Arms Limited, company number 15734139, went into liquidation on 30 October, and that the people who ran it in the past year plan to carry on “the whole or substantially the whole of the business” through the new company (The London Gazette, notice 5241784).

Why the notice was needed

When a company goes into insolvent liquidation, the law bars the people who ran it from using the same or a similar name in a new business for five years. That rule is in section 216 of the Insolvency Act 1986. One of the ways round it is to tell the old company’s creditors in advance, which is what this notice does.

So the notice is not a sign that the pub is closing. It is the opposite: a formal statement that the same people want to keep it open under the same name.

What the register shows

Companies House records give the two companies’ details:

The Fradley Arms Ltd A38 Pub Ltd
Company number 15734139 17224589
Incorporated 22 May 2024 16 May 2026
Registered office The Fradley Arms, Rykneld Street The Fradley Arms, Rykneld Street
Status on the register Active (liquidation not yet filed) Active

The old company’s last accounts were micro-entity accounts to 31 May 2025, filed in February 2026 (Companies House, The Fradley Arms Ltd). A38 Pub Ltd was set up five months before the liquidation, at the same address, and lists restaurant and pub trades as its business (Companies House, A38 Pub Ltd). The register does not yet show the liquidation, which usually takes a few days to appear.

The Gazette notice does not say how much the old company owes, who its creditors are, or who has been appointed liquidator. We have not found a statement from the pub.

What it means for you

  • If you use the pub: the notice says the business is meant to carry on under the same name. It does not say whether bookings or vouchers with the old company will be honoured, so check with the pub directly.
  • If you are owed money by The Fradley Arms Ltd: you are a creditor of the company in liquidation. The liquidator will deal with claims; the old company’s debts do not pass to A38 Pub Ltd.
  • The Fradley Arms is beside the A38 at Fradley, next to the Premier Inn.
