Citizens Advice South East Staffs offers free, confidential energy bill appointments and free sessions for Lichfield District groups. Updated November 2026.
Citizens Advice South East Staffs is offering free, confidential appointments to anyone worried about their energy bills, and free energy-saving sessions for community groups across Lichfield District.
To book either, email energy@casestaffs.org.uk or call 01543 547054. “You don’t have to be in debt to ask for help,” the charity says.
The offer comes as the Ofgem price cap has risen by 4% from 1 October, the charity says, adding that “some forecasts suggest bills could rise significantly again later this winter”. It puts UK energy debt at £6 billion, with people in debt owing an average of £2,000.
Help for one household
Appointments are private and are with an experienced adviser, who the charity says “can offer friendly, practical support for your circumstances”. They cover:
- practical energy-saving tips
- understanding tariffs and bills
- finding extra support, with information on grants, benefits and other support
- support if you have difficulties with your supplier
- access to further advice on other issues from the Citizens Advice team
- follow-up personal advice, where needed
Sessions for clubs and community groups
The charity also sends an experienced adviser to groups in the district, for what it calls “friendly, relaxed sessions”. Each one covers guidance on reducing energy bills, understanding tariffs and making simple changes at home that could save money, and how to find grants, benefits and help with a supplier.
“Sessions are free, welcoming and easy to take part in,” the charity says. “No personal information needs to be shared during the session.” Anyone in the group who needs more can have follow-up personal advice.
A group that wants to host one can use the same email address and phone number to arrange a date and time.
What it means for you
Do not head to the Burntwood office for now. Wade House in Chase Terrace closed on 2 November for a refurbishment and is due to reopen in January 2027, so the phone number and email above are the way in.
If you would rather talk to someone in person, advisers cover energy at drop-in sessions at The Vine Methodist Church in Handsacre, WS15 4DE, on 18 November and 16 December, 11am to 2pm. The charity says it is also planning more sessions at community venues across the district during the closure, and will publish details once they are confirmed.
The charity is holding its annual general meeting at the Lichfield Garrick on 26 November.
